One document from Group 1 and two further documents from either Group 1, or Group 2a or 2b

Group 1

• Passport

• Biometric Residence Passport for the UK

• Driving Licence (Photocard)

• Adoption certificate (UK and Channel Islands)

• Birth certificate – issued within 12 months of the applicant’s birth (UK and Channel Islands)

Group 2a

• Driving Licence - photocard (issued outside the UK and EU) or paper version issued without a photocard (UK, Isle of Man, Channel Islands, EU)

• Firearms Licence (UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man)

• HM Forces ID card (UK)

• Marriage/civil partnership certificate (UK and Channel Islands)

Group 2b

• Correspondence/ ID cards Card carrying the PASS accreditation logo (UK and Channel Islands)

• EU National ID card

• Letter from Head Teacher or College Principal of a UK institution (only to be used by 16 to 19 year-olds in full-time education if other documents cannot be provided)

• Letter of sponsorship from future employment provider (non-UK/non-EEA only – valid only for applicants residing outside of the UK at time of application)

• Work permit/visa (residence permit) (UK)

• Bank or building society account opening confirmation letter (UK) Must be less than 3 months old

• Bank or building society statement (UK, Channel Islands or EEA) Must be less than 3 months old

• Electricity bill/statement (UK) Must be less than 3 months old

• Gas bill/statement (UK) Must be less than 3 months old

• Credit card statement (UK or EEA) Must be less than 3 months old

• Telephone bill/statement (not mobile telephone) (UK) Must be less than 3 months old

• Water bill/statement Must be less than 3 months old

• Benefit statement eg child benefit, pension (UK) Must be less than a year old

• Document from Central or Local Government, Government Agency or Local Council document giving entitlement (UK and Channel Islands) – document 1 - Must be less than a year old
