Christmas Hampers

Supporting our community

This Christmas our scout group will support a local, Washington charity. Our food hampers will be distributed to service users of the Washington Community Food Bank.

About the charity

The Washington Community Food Project is a food bank covering the whole of Washington and Springwell, Tyne & Wear.

We are an independent charity, run solely by a team of dedicated volunteers. We rely on the goodwill and generosity of our local community for donations, in order to provide short-term, emergency food parcels, to those in need.

The amount of food we have in stock can vary and depends on the donations we receive. We are only able to share what we have, and so food parcels will vary from time to time and from site to site.

What goes in the hamper?

Beavers, cubs, scouts, explorer scouts and adult volunteers are collecting items for our boxes which measure 33cm x 15cm x 13cm.

Please check your programme for the date you will be taking part in this activity.

Things to collect for the boxes:

Food stuff - non perishable, tins, packets and small bottles. Please try and think of items that go together to make a meal; pasta and sauce; tinned meat and tinned vegetables.
