Expedition Gear

Scouts will need to pack two bags for expedition weekend. Their day bag should contain everything they need for Saturday walk and the overnight bag everything for their sleepover at Dilston Campsite. Overnight bags will go straight to Dilston and scouts will have no access to them through the day.

What to Wear
  • Hiking Boots - these should have good ankle support.
  • Shorts and T-Shirt- It's more comfortable to walk in shorts and T-shirt when the weather is warm and then put on additional layers if it's chilly.

Day Bag
  • Packed Lunch - a nice full packed lunch with plenty to eat.
  • Additional Food - just in case! (Mars Bars or Kendel mint cake is ideal.
  • Waterproofs - A waterproof coat is a must, waterproof trousers are recommended.
  • Additional layers - some extra clothes to wear if the weather isn't very good, for example a thin jumper and hoody.
  • Sun tan cream and insect repellent (although teams could choose to share).
  • Baseball cap
A member of the team will also carry a small first aid kit and scouts will carry a map and compass, route card and an emergency contact card.

Overnight Bag
Muddy Footprints

  • Sleeping bag
  • Change of clothes
  • Trainers / sandals
  • Pyjamas / nightwear
  • A small washkit and towel
  • Torch / spare batteries

We recomment that scouts do not bring anything of value as they will be responsible for looking after it for the weekend. We also ask that scouts are considerate of mobile phone usage, leaders will brief scouts about what to do in an emergency situation ahead of the weekend.
