Summer Camp 2010: The Adventure of a Lifetime Begins

The adventure has begun! Yesterday 3rd Washington Scouts set out for an amazing week in the outdoors, camping in Scotland. Scouts couldn't believe the tranquility of campsite when they arrived, the freshly cut field and the clean flowing river along beside.

For many yesterday was a tough day, scouts worked hard to transform the empty field into a campsite with patrol sites, tents and toilets. Hard work done, scouts ate their first meal as a patrol (well deserved as it was) and started to get to know each other. After some evening games and a supper of hot chocolate scouts went to bed very tired!

Today scouts have spent the day building their team spirit in patrols on an adventure journey. Scouts walked between a series of bases each with a objective to test leadership and challenge patrols. This included a quick driving lesson (scouts working together to pull Scott's car), the amazing helium cane and minesweeper. Once back from the walk, scouts got their first taste of the freezing cold river, (brrrr!!) and had a good splash around!
