Scouts: Street Dance to the Beat

Being creative is about so much more than being able to draw and paint as scouts discovered at Street Dance taster sessions at Oxclose and St Andrews.

As the beats started pumping, instructor Nikkilee showed us that Street Dance is not just about the moves, it's about the attitude of the dancer.

Scouts learned some basic street dance moves including 4 step and 6 step. As you can see f
rom the video below, we had some stars in our midst, with James at St Andrews and Natalya at Oxclose both being singled out for their talent and style.

After putting the moves together, scouts showed they had the attitude with a dance off in pairs, before freestyling.

An hour with our top dance instructor also proved that being creative can be pretty hard work.

Photos from all of our activities are now online in our gallery and you can also find some more Street Dance vids.

Next Tuesday, parents and supporters are invites to see what we've been up to and experience some of our creative programme for themselves.

Every young person at 3rd Washington enjoys a balanced programme of activities, events and experiences. The programme varies depending which our sections the young person is in, but they cover a huge range of activities, from outdoor and physical pursuits to community involvement, creative expression and learning abo
ut the wider world.
