Becoming the best in your sport takes commitment, hard work, enthusiasm, passion and a huge amount of training. Scouts found out just how hard pro-athletes train at a boot camp style workout sessions recently.

Niall from Wear Fit put our young people (and leaders) through their paces in an intense hour of sit ups, press ups, sprints and squats and we reckon it's the first activity which has genuinely worn everyone out.

The pace of the sessions was incredible and made the night huge fun as we moved from one game and exercise to the next, although some of the moves did became somewhat more bizarre (see James on the left swimming). Well done to everyone who gave it a go and pushed themselves to keep going when the sessions got tough!

Boot camps are group training sessions which run outdoors and contain a broad mix of running and bodyweight exercises, which have the aim of providing an all-over body workout. I don't know about anyone else, but the thought alone makes me feel tired.

Scouts encourages young people to enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle and we offer scouts the chance to try a range of active pursuits through our balanced programme. Find out more about the scout section at 3rd Washington.
