Recognising the Role of Scouting in the Community

We know that  Scouting makes a huge contribution to developing young people and their role within their local, national and international communities, so we're proud to share the news that our GSL (acting) was shortlisted for a community champion award at the recent Pride of Wearside Awards.

The reward for the nomination was a chance to suit up and enjoy some glitz and glam at the Stadium of Light along with young people in the city who have shown bravery and courage to overcome difficulties and other members of the Wearside community who spend their time as volunteers enriching the lives of others.

"It was a great occasion", said Jonathan, "It was a real priviledge to be nominated and I'm proud of the work that the team of volunteers who make up the Group and the District do to promote opportunities for young people to develop as citizens in Washington."

3rd Washington Scouts recognise their role within the community and through our balanced programme, we provide opportunities to become more confident as active citizens in the local area.
