There's more reasons than ever to become a volunteer in scouting this year. Maybe your New Year resolution was to spend more time with your children, or was it to give something back to the local community. As a volunteer you with the group, you'll have the opportunity to do all of this and so much more. Our flexible volunteering opportunities mean that if you can only give a couple of hours a month, you can still help us bring more adventure to more young people. Email Jonathan to find out more (3rdwashington@durhamscouts.org.uk)

If your resolution was to do something that scares you, then why not take part in 2013 BALTIC zip wire event and help us raise funds for the group. The event is amazing, exhilerating and totally unforgettable. You'll join a team of 12 thrill seekers made up of leaders and supporters who will do the zip. This is the third year we've done the zip wire and for the first time, we're opening up the event to young leaders as well. Contact Stephen to book your place (web@3rdwashingtonscouts.org.uk).

Happy New Year to all members, leaders and supporters of the group. 2012 has been epic and we promise that 2013 will be another adventure packed year, look out for section programmes launching soon.
