Cubs @ Oxclose: Farmyard Fun

This October Cubs from Oxclose went down on the farm as part of a weekend of outdoor adventure as they slept over at Waldridge Scouts HQ.

The highlight of the weekend was a trip to Adventure Valley, a farmed themed day out. After the excitement of the sleepover keeping many cubs up late the night before, many of the cubs were left feeling a little hoarse in the morning (bad pun I know), but they soon perked up when they saw the animals at the farm.

Cubs were able to hold rabbits, stroke the horses and meet the llama who could be a little bit grumpy apparently, but was happy to see our cubs. After stroking the animals, cubs got to have a tractor ride, swoosh down a zip wire and race the dino karts.

On Sunday cubs were treated to a morning of backwoods cooking, where they made their own pizzas and burgers which they cooked on the fire. Mums and dads, be prepared for some treats at home.

Cubs returned home on Sunday afternoon after tired and happy after a fun filled weekend.

The weekend was made possible by a group of volunteer Cub Scout Leaders and support from leaders from the Scout Section. They organised a fantastic weekend of fun for Cubs which allowed them to have outdoor adventures in a safe environment. Visit HLS-Scouts to find out more about becoming a volunteer in scouting.
