Today 3rd Washington scouts joined other scout troops from the Houghton-Le-Spring district and members of the county leader team to for a service to celebrate a year of scouting and to renew their promises at the Bethany Centre in Houghton.

Awards were presented to explorers and adult leaders following the promise renewal and it was an emotional affair as the district stood to thank John Addington for the role he has played as founding member and later Group Scout Leader to 3rd Washington Scouts over 34 years of scouting. John we will miss you as you retire from your role.

The whole of the 3rd Washington Group posed for a photo following the service and the strength of the group which John created all those years ago was plain to see.

John officially retires from his role at the AGM on the 12th May 2009 and we would like to invite all adults leaders, scouts, cubs, beavers who have had the benefits of scouting through John's work to join us in celebration.
